Break Bad Habits
Build Better Ones
Become Better Men

- Nate Whitson -
Not too long ago, the wifey and I weren't seeing some things eye to eye.
She had her opinion.
I had the right one.
Or so it seemed.
In moments like these, I tend to be quick to want to deal with things and just hash it out, get it over with, and help her see how wise and understanding I really am.
But, as you can imagine, that's not usually the best way.
The bull in the china shop is rarely the best approach.
So, in this particular case, I wanted to try something new (for me). I wanted to try to wait for the right moment to discuss our differences and not rush in like I normally do.
What I found was unshocking to say the least.
Instead of me barging into the conversation and trying to deal with it and be done, I gave it to God and asked Him to help me slow down and I waited.
Day one went by and nothing happened. No resolution.
Day two went by and it was more of the same.
Eventually though, in an unexpected moment, she and I were sitting alone and talking casually, easily, and without worry. All of a sudden, the opportunity to address what was blocking us earlier showed up.
And guess what??
The conversation went great and the issue was resolved and we had a great rest of the day together.
So, here's the underrated tip that I learned that I think might help you too:
Don't rush to deal with it and be done.
Sure, sometimes it's best to address something and not let it linger.
But how many times do we men rush in and bulldoze our way forward without waiting on God to help us out?
For me, it's more times than I can count.
So, my appeal to you is to be smarter than me (won't be hard!).
Don't always rush right in. Wait on God and watch what He can do the next time you and your Mrs. have some things to work out.

P.S.
Do you find yourself wanting to deal with things right away when disagreements show up in your relationships?
If so, try slowing it down sometimes and wait on God.
Also, if you struggle to communicate with your wife and want some help, check out this book I wrote for couples.
It's a book about how to have better sex (I mean...who doesn't want that!) - but I believe it holds the key to better communication with your wife about everything else too!
If you're want to communicate like never before and build a better marriage, check it out today.
