Better Man Newsletter
A weekly newsletter for Christian men
that's actually worth reading!

Question of the Week:
"Am I focused on finishing 2024 stronger than I started?"
3 Actions or Ideas:
-
Reflect on the Year:
Spend 20-30 minutes in prayer and writing down your thoughts this week on how you felt 2024 went for you. Ask yourself, Where have I grown closer to God? Where have I fallen short? What do I need to do to finish strong? Be honest, and ask God to show you what you need to see and for His thoughts on how to end the year strong. -
Set One God-Honoring Goal:
Choose one area to improve on before the year ends. Don't worry that it's not a long time. Focus on the fact that you're intentionally working on being more of the man you're meant to be - a man who finishes strong! Maybe it’s committing to daily devos, serving your wife more intentionally, saying you're sorry, or mending a hurting relationship. Write it down, and then do the thing you said you'll do. -
Lead Your Family In Doing The Same:
Gather your family together and take time to reflect on the blessings of the year and also areas you need more growth (both as individuals and also as a family). Talk about the importance of learning to finish what you start and how finishing strong honors God. Pray together, thanking God for His faithfulness and also asking Him to show you how to do the things He brings to mind.
Why It Matters
How you finish something says just as much, if not more, than how you start. The Bible encourages us to press on and finish well, no matter what. Paul reminds us in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” This is the kind of life we're called to lead as well - being men who don't quit and finish strong.
As the year comes to a close, it’s easy to drift into complacency, thinking the new year is when we'll focus on resetting our mindset and goals. But I don't think God wants us to wait until January to start doing the hard, right things we already know to do. The decisions we make now—how we're going to finish the year — lay the foundation for the one ahead.
Finishing strong doesn’t mean being perfect. Don't fall for the trap of worrying about how "it's too late to start now". Finishing strong means being faithful to do the things you said you'd do. It’s about recommitting to the things that matter most: your relationship with God, your family, and being a man of honor, discipline, strength, and joy.
So ask yourself: How will I finish this year? Will I coast to the end or push to finish strong? Make the choice today to end 2024 as a man of strength.
