- Nate Whitson -
I was hunting several years ago (I think it was probably 2020 or 2021) and it was the lowest time of my life.
I'm (typically) a very happy and easygoing person.
But at this particular time in my life, I was truly depressed.
We had just gone through several years of an adoption process that divided my heart and my home in major ways, and I was really at the end of my rope.
I vividly remember sitting 15 feet up in my treestand with my 20-gauge single-shot rifle in my hands and just bawling my eyes out.
I was a total mess.
I didn't like where my marriage was at, I didn't like what had happened to my family, and I was just so tired of dealing with it all.
I simply did not want to be here (on earth) anymore.
As I sat there in that tree, for just the briefest of moments I wondered what life might be like to use that gun and just end things and not have to be around any longer to deal with this.
That moment didn't last long and I wasn't really close to doing something tragic and stupid, but it felt closer than I ever dreamed I'd get to doing such a thing like that and it scared me pretty bad.
Eventually, the boy we had adopted was re-adopted by another family in our church and God worked out miraculous things over the next year or so.
Things that I truly didn't think He could do.

What that season of life taught me was several things but one thing in particular that I want you to hear today.
There is NOTHING that God can't do!
I was dealing with a situation where I thought that wasn't true.
But God did the impossible and brought good from a story that I thought nothing good could come from.
Maybe that's where you're at today.
Maybe you're dealing with something where you feel like I did during that long stretch of days and the only thing you can think or feel right now is pain and darkness and doubt.
If so, my heart hurts with you.
I know that darkness well and I want you to know you're not alone.
But more than anything I want you to know what I had heard many times before and read about for all my life - but hadn't yet experienced for myself: there's NOTHING that God can't do!
If you're in the middle of it right now, I know that won't likely bust you out of the funk you're in or solve all your problems.
But I hope that when God shows up in your story and He does what you didn't think He could for you, that'll pass it on to someone else too.
When He does for you what He's done for me, be sure to let someone else know what you now know.
There is NOTHING that God can't do!
