"I wish I knew THEN what I know NOW!"
Ever thought that?
I know I certainly have!
I heard someone say that the other day, and it got me thinking.
What are some things I wish I knew earlier in my adult life that I'm just now learning?
Here's a few of them for you.
I wish I knew that...
-
That porn was killing me even though I thought it wasn't. (And I wish I knew how to quit porn sooner.)
-
That being a godly man isn’t about being "nice"—it’s about being loving, honorable, disciplined, and strong like Jesus.
-
That the time I gave my kids mattered more than the money I made for them, and that my time with them would be gone so much faster than I I could believe.
-
That leading my wife spiritually was my role and part of my job description as her husband.
-
That saying ‘yes’ to everything was really just saying ‘no’ to what mattered most.
-
That real strength looks like repentance and vulnerability, not pretending like everything's always good.
-
That numbing my stress with screens and scrolling wasn’t restful and didn't provide peace. It was an escape from pain but it didn't alleviate or solve any real issues.
-
That my identity isn’t in my job, my performance, or what others think about me. I am who God says I am.
- That having a thriving sex life and stronger marriage was possible if we simply learned to talk and communicate about it openly and honestly.
-
That I didn’t have to be perfect to be used by God—I just had to be willing and make myself available.
- That having godly brothers in my life who knew me deeply and held me accountable for my actions was the key to life.
The bad news: you can't change your past.
The good news: you can change your future!
Make adjustments today and do the work necessary to keep you from looking back and saying, "I wish I would've....".
