Practical Discipleship
For Christian Men
~ Helping men live intentional lives ~
Are you winning in public… but slowly failing at home?
After A.W. Tozer died — a man known as a powerful preacher and whose epitph simply said: “A man of God” — his widow later remarried and reportedly said this:
“Aidan loved Jesus Christ. But Leonard Odom loves me.”
That statement should stop you.
You can love Jesus.
You can work hard.
You can provide well.
And still leave your wife emotionally alone.
Still leave your kids disconnected.
That’s the trap.
Providing For Your Family Is Bigger Than a Paycheck
1 Timothy 5:8 says a man who fails to care for his household has “denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
That's serious!
Provision in God’s definition isn’t just money.
It’s:
-
Spiritual leadership
-
Emotional presence
-
Relational engagement
-
Knowing your wife and kids (and vice versa)
A lot of men say, “I work hard. They have what they need.”
But do they?

Let me ask you this, and I hope you'll seriously consider it:
If nothing changes, where will your marriage be in 5 or 20 years?
Have you actually asked your wife,
“Am I showing up the way you need? What else do you need?”
Those questions take courage. But this is the truth:
It’s Not Too Late!
If you’re still breathing, it’s not too late.
Condemnation says, “You blew it.” Conviction says, “Let’s fix it.”
So here’s your next step:
Go to your wife and kids and ask them directly: “How can I better show up for you?”
Don’t defend. Just listen. Then choose presence on purpose:
-
Put the phone down.
-
Pray before you walk in the door so you're ready to serve.
-
Be fully where your feet are.
Don’t fall into the trap of public faithfulness and private neglect.
Be intentional.
Get in the fight.
Win at home.
