"Maybe you can help - I just don't know what to do!"
This was the last sentence in a text message I received from the wife of a friend.
Their troubles all began when my buddy opened up to her about his secret struggle with porn.
He thought she probably had an idea. But she didn't have a clue! (This is so often the case.)
The news rocked her world and caused her to crash for a few days, but she recovered pretty quickly, forgave him, and all seemed well.
Until it wasn't.
That's when the text message came through to me.
The pain had been festering in her mind, and then words were spoken between them, and old wounds were quickly re-opened.
What he was saying was being misinterpreted by her and vice versa.
They simply were missing each other's hearts and the hurt set in.
You see, porn addiction opens wounds that we never anticipated when we started.
For many of us, we weren't even married when we first started searching for porn (or it started searching for us!).
Little did we know that years later it would surface in our marriages and bring so much hurt and destruction.
But that's always what sin brings.
Listen to God's warning to us from Proverbs 7:22-27:
"All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life. Now then, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to what I say. Do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths. Many are the victims she has brought down; her slain are a mighty throng. Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death."
How little we know about the future consequences of our sins!

Listen.
Pay attention to what I say.

That statistic is shocking and, yet - I wonder if the number is actually higher?
